How to Calculate Your Body Weight, Using a Simple Tool
Do you know which of the following people groups you belong to? Overweight, obese or healthy? You only need it if your intention is to prevent any of the diseases related to excess weight such as hypertension and diabetes. I’m going to hold your hand to show you how to calculate your own weight, the easiest way. Get this fact right. About 66% of American adults are already obese. This is not good news at all. It’s time to start worrying about how to reduce excess fat. Are you ready now to know how to check your excess fat by measuring your body weight? It is the easy and simple body index method. Below is what it is about.
Physical Index Method
First, let’s look at the facts.
– The BMI shows the relationship between an individual’s height and weight.
– It is a sign that shows the amount of fat in a person’s body.
– It is also used by Doctors to show the level of risk associated with a stress-related disease.
– It became popular at a time when more people were experiencing weight problems due to excess fat.
– BMI is widely used because men and women can apply it in any part of the world.
It’s okay for the facts now. The question that many people ask is how to use it. Don’t worry too much. Just relax. Here is a step by step guide. Are you happy now?
How to Calculate a Body Mass Index
Step 1: Look for a scale to measure your weight in pounds.
Step 2: Find a way to measure your height too
Step 3: Convert your measured height to inches using the following mathematical relationship; 12 inches = 1 foot. For example: if your height is 5 feet 6 inches, your height = 5 * 12 + 6 = 60 + 6 = 66 inches. Can you get that switch?
Step 4: Enter the measured values into the following body index formula;
BMI=Weight (in pounds)*703/height squared (in inches)
Let’s look at the example below to show how this is done:
Assuming someone weighs 200 pounds and is 5 feet 5 inches tall, the BMI for that person is: BMI = 200 * 703/65 * 65 inches.
BMI = 140600/4225
BMI = 33.3
What a simple calculation. It’s as easy as ABC. Even if you don’t go to school you should be able to do this. Now, notice this. A person with the calculated value above would be said to be obese. Can you see how the body index is used? Knowing this would alert the person to quickly find solutions to his excess fat problems and prevent him from other weight related diseases.
