Just last week, my husband and I stopped at our local market to grab a coffee on our way down the hill to shop. Living in the country as we are, we know most of all and as I was waiting to check it, I ran into a friend. We had heard that the man her son worked with when he was grading our foundation, had recently died in a terrible accident, but the next thing she told me, it blew me away .

Her son, who was 37 or 38 years old, who was good and lively, had an accident himself and broke his neck. She said that the doctors had told them that he would be paralyzed from the neck down for the rest of his natural life. That happened six months ago.

“It’s only a matter of time before I walk again,” he said, “though I’ll accept whatever happens.”
