Speaking Life Into An Impossible Situation

So many of us have resisted God’s call on us, saying “surely not even God could save me, because I have done terrible things”. Remember though, that God is the God of the impossible. Jesus himself said this:

“… with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

This means exactly what it says…God can accomplish what seems impossible to us. There are many stories about just that in the Bible – for example, Abraham, the father of the bloodlines of the Jewish and Arab nations, did not have his first child until he was well past childbearing age. In Genesis 15, God made this promise to Abraham:

“And he brought him out, and said, Look now to the sky, and tell the stars, if you can count them: and he said to him, This is how your descendants will be.

And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it as righteousness.” (Genesis 15:2-6)

Indeed, God blessed Abraham with a son, Ishmael, from Hagar, his wife’s maid. However, the Lord went even further, and gave another promise to Abraham:

“And God said to Abraham, As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.

And I will bless her, and I will also give you a son from her: yes, I will bless her, and she will be the mother of a nation; kings of men will be from him.

Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to him who is a hundred years old? and will Sarah, who is eighty years old?

And God said, Indeed your wife Sarah will bear you a son; and you shall call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.” (Genesis 15:15-17, 15:19)

At this time, Abraham was 99 and Sarah, his wife, was 90 years past her childbearing years. Again, however, our God, the God of the helpless, made his promise to forgive, although both Abraham and Sarah laughed at him. In the appointed time, their son, Issac, was born, and from this blood came the great King David, the wise King Solomon, and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through whom we can find eternal life.

So you see, if God can do this, he will certainly take your life, and make it such a witness to his glory and greatness. He will take your life, as with the Apostle Paul, and transform it completely – so that the old and the dead are washed away, and you get a new life. You can take that first step right now, yes, just this second one, by praying this prayer:

“Father God, I come before you today broken, dead, in need of transformation. I know you can do anything, great or big, big or small, and I ask that it be done you into my life, right now, and through the Blood. Son, Jesus, change the impossible into possible, Father, put your Spirit into my life, and guide me in the way you would have me go.”

At this point, breathe a sigh of relief, because your “impossible” is soon possible!
