Disney’s 2013 Promotion: Limited Time Magic at Disneyland in California and Magic Kingdom in Florida
Every year, Disney celebrates with a new promotion. Disney’s 2013 promotion is called “Limited Time Magic” and will be celebrated at Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. This event promises 52 weeks full of surprises and special themes. For the most part, each experience will disappear after 7 days to make way for the next week’s “limited time magic”. Upcoming experiences will be announced two weeks in advance in a variety of ways, including on Disneyworld.com, Disneyland.com, Facebook, Twitter, the Disney Parks Blog and in-park.
Here are a few examples of some of the experiences Disney has announced it will offer at its two U.S. parks during 2013:
“A Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue” – This California Disneyland Park experience is a 20-minute tribute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue family that ran at the Golden Horseshoe Saloon from Disneyland’s first day in 1955 until 1986. In this current tribute, Ms. Lily and her parlor girls bring songs, dancing (including a can), and jokes said to be among Walt Disney’s personal favorites. Performances will be held Monday through Thursday, January 10th through February 4th. To attend one of the shows, you’ll need to get a ticket from a cast member on the stage outside the Golden Horseshoe Lounge, located in Disneyland’s Frontierland. This is expected to be a very popular show, so pick up your ticket as soon as you enter Disneyland Park for the day.
“Long Lost Friends Week” – will bring back lesser-known Disney characters for photo opportunities and meet-and-greet opportunities. Some of the characters likely to appear are the Three Little Pigs, Friar Tuck, Robin Hood, Horace Horse Collar, Clarabelle Cow, Remy, Flik, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Available characters will be determined at least in part by online voting — Disney guests will be able to vote for “long-lost characters” they want to see. The Long Lost Friends experience will be held at the Walt Disney World Resort from January 21-27. Disneyland Resort has not announced when the experience will be available in California.
“True Love Week” – this experience will feature surprise meet and greets with some of Disney’s favorite princess and prince couples. Other offerings will include candlelit dinners at select restaurants, Valentine’s Day collectibles, and romantic pink and red lighting of castles in each park. Look for this experience during the week in February that includes Valentine’s Day.
“Pirate Week” – this 7-day experience will feature special pirate-themed souvenirs and collectibles, special entertainment such as pirate bands and pirate meet and greets. Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Pirates of the Caribbean will be featured in this week-long experience.
“Patriotic Week” – will be a weekly experience held during the week that includes the 4th of July. Look for limited edition themed souvenirs like Mouse Ears and USA shirts. The locks will be illuminated in the patriotic colors of red, white and blue. Expect Mickey Mouse to greet visitors in patriotic attire.
“Villains Week” – get ready for activities and photo ops with such Disney villains as Jafer, Maleficent and Captain Hook. Experiences include the Villain Dance Party, Disney Mischief Night and 1pm closing time (1am) on Friday the 13th.
“Dapper Dans Sing Boy Bands” – This American quartet from Disney’s Main Street will claim the title of “the original boy band” during this week-long celebration. During the finale of each of their shows, a medley of hits from such contemporary boy bands as One Direction, NSYNC and the Back Street Boys will be played.
As part of their “Limited Time Magic” promotion, Disney has declared 2013 the “Year of the Ear”. Each month Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will offer a new limited edition themed “ear hat” to add to your collection.
2013 promises to be a year full of nostalgia and new experiences at two American Disney resorts. To find out what “Limited Time Magic” will be like for the next two weeks, keep an eye on Disney’s website, Twitter and Facebook.
