Ed Leedskalnin – The History of Edward Leedskalnin
I have been interested in the life and times of Edward Leedskalnin since I was 11 years old. He was the creator of the Coral Castle located in Homestead Florida, a megalithic structure made of 1100 tons of coral, a structure whose secrets have never been revealed. he explained.
Ed was also known for his research on magnetism in pamphlets on magnetic currents that illustrated his theories and also discussed his perpetum mobile or perpetum energy device.
Edward Leedskalnin, who liked to be called Ed, is generally believed to have been born in 1887 in Latvia. At the age of 26, Ed was engaged to marry the girl of his dreams, Agnes Scuffs, who was 16 years old.
The day before the wedding, she told Ed that she didn’t want to marry him for one of many reasons. It is said that he was too old, too poor, or perhaps not educated enough (Ed is said to have only had a fourth grade).
With his dreams shattered by his “Sweet Sixteen”, Ed left Latvia, traveled to Canada and then down to California and Texas. During this time, Ed reportedly worked in the lumber industry and was part of at least one cattle drive in Texas.
These works are said to have given him the strength necessary to move huge blocks of coral, which he later used in the construction of the Coral Castle. During his travels, Ed developed a case of tuberculosis. He then traveled from Texas to Florida in search of a better climate to help with his newly developed illness.
Ed arrived in Florida and began building Coral Castle on a plot of land he bought for $12. After Ed was cured of tuberculosis, he spent the next 20 to 30 years building this coral monument to his “Sweet Sixteen.”
At some point, Ed decided to move Coral Castle to Homestead, Florida, about 10 miles north of its Florida City location, and renamed it “Rock Gate Park” after the 9-ton gate he installed after moving to this new location.
Ed earned his living by giving tours of the Coral Castle and published several pamphlets on astronomical and electromagnetic information, as well as creating what appears to be a permanent energy device before his death. Ed died at age 64 of stomach cancer in December 1951 at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
Unfortunately, all the secrets that Ed possessed, including his ability to carve and move megalithic stones and the secret of his permanent energy device, seem to have died with him over 50 years ago. Nevertheless, thanks to the Coral Castle and his writings, the mystery of Edward Leedskalnin lives on to this day.
