The right diet is the right medicine for our body, says nutritionist Ritu Sharma of Ritu Diet fame.
What prompted me to write this article is the increase in the number of young people who come to my clinic (Ritu’s Diet) with many ailments. A teenage girl presented with PCOD, hyperthyroid, high triglycerides and obesity. Later, I felt the need to educate children to learn to eat right throughout their lives to gain mental and physical strength. You can find many such examples, but who is to blame for their suffering? Stress, depression and obesity also take a toll on a child’s health. Obesity is the most common nutritional disorder and a serious health problem worldwide. It puts strain on the kidneys, liver, heart and other organs and increases the risk of diabetes, heart problems, cancer and other life-threatening diseases. According to the American Institute for Cancer Research, about 40% of cancers are related to diet.
No two people are the same; everyone has a different size, metabolic makeup, body shape, health issues, genetic makeup, etc. Therefore, there can never be a diet that works for everyone. Don’t believe what someone says. Our diet should be adapted to the needs of our body. Individual requirements for each nutrient are related to a person’s age, gender, level of physical activity, health status, and many other factors. Each nutrient has a specific series of functions. Excess or deficiency of nutrients can cause disease. For example, selenium (RDA 30-60 mcg), which is needed to maintain youth and slow the aging process, is mainly found in barley and wheat germ. High doses of selenium can cause alopecia (baldness), emotional instability, and deficiency causes cancer, cardiovascular disease, disease, and premature aging.
Diet therapy is a better option than weight loss for those who have already tried to lose weight in unhealthy ways.
It should be understood that the right way to lose weight is a proper customized diet.
