That was until Neil Strauss’s recent bestseller The Game-Penetrating the Secret Society of the Pick Up Artist took the world by storm and revealed the rapidly growing community of male gurus who teach the art of seduction.

Perhaps because it doesn’t seem manly to walk into a bookstore and buy a book on improving your success with women, these gurus have chosen to preach their teachings in a more underground way. But these gurus, whether they like it or not, are now entering mainstream culture.

These principles include:

1. You must become an alpha male. An alpha male is a super-masculine guy who leads the pack, is aggressive in getting what he wants, and doesn’t owe himself to anyone.

2. A repertoire of openers should be developed. An opener is a conversation starter that gets your foot in the door when you want to talk to a woman. The best openers tend to be direct.
