Eastbourne has a wide range of special shopping events and late night opening nights this Christmas.
The festivities kick off with the St Wilfred Hospice Christmas Shopping Weekend on December 3rd, 4th and 5th.
The event kicks off with “Little Christmas” in Little Chelsea on Friday evening, December 3rd. Following last year’s success, both Grove Road and South Street will once again be closed to traffic and the area will be filled with attractions and entertainment for all the family, including festive food and drink, choir singing and live music. Specialty shops and boutiques will also be open for late-night shopping.
Eastbourne’s local radio station Sovereign FM will be in town all weekend, starting in Little Chelsea on Friday night. On Saturday and Sunday, Bankers Corner in the city center will have their best hosts to entertain the crowds with fun, games and competitions along with the best music.
There will be entertainment from local choirs, schools and groups on stage and in the Railway Station and Business Mall. Mall performers will entertain you all weekend at the Arndale Centre.
The business center will be serving up their traditional mulled wine and mince pies to all shoppers, and Santa will be greeted by the magical sound of the Sovereign Singers singing Christmas carols as he opens his grotto, handing out free toys to every child who visits. They will also be bringing back their wonderful reindeer from 11am on Saturday. Of course, the amazing one-of-a-kind shopping experience with over 50 stores will help you find that special gift or delicious Christmas treat.
Local businesses will once again compete in the Fancy Dress Competition with many town center shops and businesses dressing up and in festive spirit to add fun and sparkle to the town center at the weekend event.
Santa and the Reindeer Parade start from the Cavendish Hotel at around 10.15am, then through the town to the Enterprise Center where they will be from 11am to 2pm.
A fantastic traditional Victorian entertainment center with games, rides and fun for all the family is coming to Langney Road. Try them all and see what you like best.
The Continental Market will have over 50 stalls selling delicious local Christmas treats and gift ideas. Dressed in festive attire, this market will add to the festive spirit of the event and is open daily and will run from Bankers Corner to TJ Hughes, so make sure you don’t miss out on any of the great deals available. The entertainment, with a dedicated stage area sponsored by Sterling Motors, will be located outside TJ Hughes, Terminus Road, meaning there will be more bands and entertainers than ever before.
Late night shopping
There’s plenty of time to get all those Christmas gifts in with Eastbourne’s late night opening specials. Arndale Center and many town center shops will be open late every Thursday from 18 November to 16 December.
