Ten Scripture Passages You Should Consider Before Divorcing! Part 1

The first scripture is

Malachi 2:13-16 (NKJV) 13 And this is the second thing that you do: you cover the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping and wailing; Therefore He no longer regards it as an offering, nor does He receive it with good will from your hands.

14 But you say, “Why?” For the Lord has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, with whom you have dealt treacherously; However, she is your companion and your covenant wife.

15 But has He not made them one, having the remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks pious offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let no one be unfaithful to the wife of his youth.

16 “For the Lord, the God of Israel, says that he hates divorce, because it covers a man’s garment with violence,” says the Lord of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, lest you act treacherously.”

Folks, no matter what has been done between husband and wife, the Lord God of Israel, the Christian God says here in prophecy that HE HATES DIVORCE!

This article cannot be bypassed. It is printed here in plain English, and the Holy Spirit not only wanted it in this document, but He wanted this passage to be at the top of the document.

Every marriage is a covenant between God and the couple, as well as a covenant between man and wife. God makes this point in verse 15 when He says: But did He not make them one. The italics on the word “they” means that the LORD himself made the couple, so what right do mortals have to go to human court and seek divorce when God hates it?

God says that divorce covers a person’s clothes with violence. He says therefore pay attention to your spirit. In other words, God is saying, get a hold of yourself and don’t go down this road of divorce.

Oh, many of you are hard of hearing. “But my partner has done this and my partner has done that,” you cry.

Divorce is telling God that He cannot fix your marriage. Divorce is saying to God: I don’t want to be like You and forgive me, I want out and I want it now!

The second verse the Holy Spirit has placed on my heart is Psalm 146:3-5

3 Do not trust in rulers, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 4 His spirit departs, he returns to his land; That same day, his plans fail.

5 Happy is he whose help is the God of Jacob, who hopes in the Lord his God,

When we take matters into our own hands, leave the marriage and get a divorce, we are trusting a person because when we divorce, we are doing something that God hates. Verse 5 says that the person whom the God of Jacob helps is not sad, but happy.

Courts of law are not filled with experts and they are not filled with justice. They are full of sons of men who divorce the masses when they shouldn’t.

Pastors in churches all over the world are marrying people in second marriages when Jesus and Paul were very clear against it. This practice of divorcing one partner is really only popular these days because it opens up an opportunity

remarry and try again. However, Paul and Jesus make it clear that a second marriage is adultery.

The third verse is what Paul said in Romans.

Romans 7:2-3 2 For a woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is freed from her husband’s law. 3 So if, while her husband is alive, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, then she is free from this law, so she is not an adulteress, even though she is married to another man.

Only in death does one find that the marriage covenant is broken. A person can get a divorce for sexual fornication, but that doesn’t exempt them from remarrying, it just allows them to stop living with that partner. From now on they should remain single or rather forgive their spouse and remain married. I like to look at it this way.

If Jesus was like the world of married couples today, we’d all be in trouble. As the bride of Christ, we often take on other lovers, other desires, the things of the world are our idols, and we sin, and sin, and sin. We all commit spiritual adultery and break the heart of Jesus over and over again. He certainly has reason to separate us, and yet He is full of mercy and grace and forgives us every time we sin. Over time, this grace affects us so powerfully that we actually stop some sins because Jesus has proven that He loves us so much.

Bill Clinton could have been kicked out of his home, his wife’s bed and divorced by his wife Hillary in front of the whole world, but no, his wife and daughter chose to forgive him and set an example for the whole world.

We as sinners should be judged by Jesus every week for what we do and how we willingly break the Holy Commandments, yet He forgives us to set an example of how we should love others.

We too should lead by example and forgive our partners, not divorce them, but pray for them. We should not so easily go the way of the sons of men and go to court for a piece of paper that says we don’t have to forgive and continue the marriage. Jesus said the same thing as Paul in the next verse.

The fourth verse is Mark 10:11-12 11 Then He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. 12 And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

Now, if you are reading this, you will be only one of the fifty who will allow the Holy Spirit to give you the truth of this verse. The problem with Christians today is that they have been taught lies. It all seemed to start with one king who couldn’t remarry to find a wife who could bear him a son, so he started his own church so he wouldn’t have to obey the Bible’s teachings on divorce and divorce. marriage. From that day to this, it has been perfectly okay to divorce and remarry, but it has not been okay with God.

The sad truth is that most people today trust only men to interpret the scriptures, and the knowledge they have of most of the known verses comes from the teachings of men. Psalm 146 above says do not trust in the sons of kings (princes) or in the sons of men, but trust in God alone.

No one taught me that remarriage was against what God wanted for my life. My wife had divorced me and a few years later I was reading Matthew 5:31-32 when I began to cry. As I thought about what was going on, I asked the Holy Spirit what I thought this verse was saying to me, really saying what I was thinking. Jesus answered me and asked me what I thought the verse was about. I replied that I thought that meant I couldn’t remarry, and Jesus said, “Yes, that’s right Matthew.”

It has taken me many years since that day to realize that I am alone for the rest of my life. Today I am quite happy because I have some lovely friends who are girls and I am looking forward to going into full time ministry in the future which will involve a lot of traveling and my wife will miss me very much.

No one had preached to me what this verse I was reading meant. It was the Holy Spirit that made me cry and Jesus himself confirmed my question that taught me. Many scriptures teach me exactly this, and this is what the Holy Spirit wants me to point out with the following scripture.

Article five

1 John 2:27

27 But the anointing that you have received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. but as the same anointing teaches you about all things and is true and not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will remain in Him.

God is true to His Word. If you pray enough and spend enough time in God’s presence and live a righteous life, the Holy Spirit will teach you everything and the Bible will come alive. The same Holy Spirit that woke me up an hour ago and gives me verses to quote and say will teach you too. The reason we rely so much on books, CDs, and sermons for our Christian growth is basically because we are lazy.

No one can ever convince me to get married, no one can convince me that I am wrong, simply because the Holy Spirit does not lie, as the verse above simply states. The trick is to be able to “hear” the Holy Spirit speaking to you in your Christian walk.

Now, I am not writing this article to upset and depress you. When I sat down to write, I needed strong coffee to convince me to stay awake. I had no idea that the Holy Spirit would deal with this issue of divorce and remarriage. I hate this topic because every time the Holy Spirit leads me to reach out to someone in this situation, it ends in a loss of relationship. But I can see the wisdom in this article because some of you might reconsider your divorce if you truly believe you cannot remarry and you could work to save your marriage through prayer and fasting and forgiveness. Which brings us to the next scripture.

Article six

1 John 2:9-10 9 He who says he is in the light, but hates his brother, is still in darkness.

10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and in him there is no cause of stumbling.

Divorce, according to God, is violence and treacherous behavior towards one’s partner. You can’t really do that in love because violence is not something that should be done to the person we love. Oftentimes, the hatred burning in the partner’s heart causes them to go through moves, expenses, and divorce issues against their partner. And when that happens, John says we are in the dark.

However, John says that if we love our brother/spouse, then we are in the light and have no reason to stumble. You see love is the answer, not justice, but more love. Divorce is just the result of not loving him anymore, and how can you say you love God if you don’t love the person you are married to?

Article seven

1 John 3:10

10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed: he who does not do righteousness is not of God, and he who does not love his brother. When God says I hate divorce and beware of your spirit and instead you harbor unforgiveness, hatred and malice in your heart and go ahead and divorce because of the hardness of your heart, are you really doing what God wants or are you playing into the hands of the evil one ?

Even Jesus said that the only reason for divorce was because of human cruelty. He made it quite clear that this was not the case at first. Man was given grounds for divorce only on the grounds of sexual fornication because they were gross beasts, stubborn and rebellious against the heart of God. If God were really on the side of people who divorce because of immorality, then Prophet Hosea would never have been asked to marry a harlot and tolerate her infidelity.

Divorce is basically saying to God, “I don’t love my spouse anymore, and I don’t really care what You think about it anymore, God. I’m going to do something that You hate.”
