Introduction: A fairly decent comedy starring one of my least favorite actors, Adam Sandler.
Review: I would like to think for a moment…what is it with the Walt Disney pictures and the lack of wholesome and healthy families? Another single parent movie. Of course, there are a LOT of single parents out there, and I’m not trying to put them down. It’s only human, can we have some happily married couples? It’s disturbing how few of these are in Disney movies…
Ok, talk it out…LOL…back to the bedtime stories…
This was a comedy that stayed cleaner than I expected. One of the reasons I don’t like Adam is that he likes to star in comedies that have crass humor. I believe we can make funny films without profanity.
It is definitely NOT crude oil free. Much less crude than what I would normally expect though. LOL!
Conclusion: Maybe there was less crude humor, but there was no shortage of bad character building either. There were quite a few bad lessons in the movie. Kids take these movies seriously. They learn that lying, cheating, and having an adult encourage a 6-year-old boy to kiss girls (and many other not-so-good “lessons” can be found in this movie) are funny and “easy.”
My little one repeated some things I didn’t like…we should have had a wow, or as my teenager likes to call it, a “lecture”. Guess what though? My teenager really appreciates my lectures! WOW! Go figure it out!
It’s definitely a movie that will require a nice chat with the younger kids when it’s over. Keep in mind that as Christian mothers, we need to make sure we realize that it’s never “just a movie.” What we see and hear affects us more than we realize or care to admit. As mothers, we have a responsibility to train our children and teach them what is right and what is wrong.
It was ok. However, I don’t think I will be buying this movie for my girls to watch over and over again.
