2 Years on Raw Paleo Diet Testimonial
The raw paleo diet is the original human diet before agriculture. The Raw Paleo Diet is raw fruits, raw vegetables, and raw organic/wild animal foods. The theory states that the human body is one of nature’s best creations. We are self-healing and always healthy given our original human diet. As a foundation for curing most ailments, following a raw paleo diet daily will produce dramatic, sustainable results.
My raw paleo diet adventure came about when I was desperate for a cure for whatever ailed me. The challenges in my life always needed a solution. Training as an engineer, computer whiz, problem solver made me find ultimate solutions or whatever.
Born in 1969, I grew up like every other city kid, eating baby formula, drugs, fast food, lots of cooked food, and following the debunked food pyramid, high in cooked carbs and low in fat.
When I was a child, I was diagnosed with asthma and doctors prescribed antihistamines. When I had cystic acne at 16, dermatologists bombarded me with steroid injections and creams. Finally someone decided that I should take an experimental drug called Ro-Accutane. We had to go to the headquarters of the drug company and sign a waiver for their drug, which was experimental and had possible severe side effects.
In 2004, while visiting the beaches of Boracay, I was bitten by sandflies and suffered from itching all over my arms and legs for 2 whole years. After months of steroid injections and steroid creams, I gave up and let it be, and in 2006 the suspected leishmaniasis went away.
I’ve had folliculitis all my life, red spots on my body when I take a bath, easily fatigued from intense activity, heartburn, left rotator shoulder pain, been hospitalized for various unknown viral illnesses, and had some heart murmurs , which is called mitral valve prolapse and became obese, weighing 170 pounds and wearing 38-inch waist pants.
Beginning with my spouse and I’s secondary infertility experience in 2002, we organized our diets by cutting out junk food and cutting out anything inedible, topical, and ditching the microwave. And using raw oysters to increase sperm count.
In the same year 2002, while trying to get pregnant, I contracted an unknown viral disease, ended up in the hospital for 3 days, then suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome for 1 month. The heart doctor who ordered the test kit said the tests came back negative, so he wanted to improve my heart by prescribing heart-shaped drugs called beta blockers, but they can kill my erection! It was so unacceptable to me because I only had one child and my goal in life was to have at least 4. I was completely off drugs and learned that just by eliminating all sources of caffeine I was able to heal in 3 weeks. .
When my second child was born in September 2003, I was obese and weighed 170 pounds, and I was desperate to lose weight to look sexy enough to have more children. I blindly tried to follow a prepackaged Atkins diet. I then sought out the teachings of a western medicine dietitian and she taught me how to lose weight, reduce starches and increase vegetables. I lost weight and stayed around 140 pounds for a while. But I was still not well.
In 2003 I started a small eczema on the lower leg of my right leg, it was a good itch, I didn’t think about it. It became fully inflated in mid-2005. I had full blown eczema the size of a steak on my right leg, all over my face, ears, left arm. I was a mess, I couldn’t work, I couldn’t go out, all 5 doctors I saw told me I was INCURABLE and I would be for the rest of my life.
The incurable diagnosis was unacceptable to me. I was always an open person. No DOGMA was my motto in life. I am an engineer, a problem solver, if these so-called “doctors” said I was incurable, it only meant that THEY DIDN’T know the cure and that their common educational background was AMISS. I had to find people who KNEW how to heal…NOT DOCTORS, so I traveled to a far away city where there were no Western medicine doctors and my true health journey began with a 3rd generation herbalist, Manang Lorna.
I learned about electromedicine, herbs, and detoxification: kidney cleansing, liver flushing, colon cleansing, and many other cleansing treatments that eliminated my eczema symptoms. No eczema symptoms. But I wanted more. I wanted vibrant health. I knew there was more and I wanted to be healthy so bad I just had to learn more. All the detoxing and diet changes didn’t mean a real cure.
I came across raw veganism in 2007 through Dr. Tam Mateo. I tried 2 months of raw veganism his way, his recipes, his advice, but I got too thin and finally gave up on raw veganism. I added cooked meat and rice back to my diet to gain weight.
After that I was ready to fast and tried the 14 day orange juice fast under the tutelage of Barefoot Herbalist MH. It was an eye opener. I got rid of my addiction to boiled meat and rice. I was ready to try raw fruitarian. And I tried raw fruitarian which only lasted me 2 months. I got thinner eating raw fruit instead of vegan, plus I felt cold and I live in a tropical country, warm Manila with temperatures of 25-30 degrees celsius. I was finally brought to a halt by the frenzy of the fruit as I asked for support when my cold feelings would end. For a long time the fetus said it would take 5 years! That did it, I had to find something else.
I stumbled across the Wai Genriiu Diet (a form of raw paleo). It was an easy step from the fruit diet to the Wai diet, just add extra virgin olive oil to my tropical fruits and raw fish sashimi and raw egg yolks. Bam! Instant feeling of good health! While on the Wai diet, I gained a reasonable 112 to 120 pounds. Adding raw meat to my diet for less than 4 months was a lifesaver for my health.
After 3 months on the Wai diet, I got bored of just seafood. Why not try land animals? I stumbled upon Aajonus Vonderplanitz who went on and on about the benefits of raw land animals, raw beef, raw chicken and raw milk.
I needed a bit of a hand, some support to get started and I found Jeff Purcell (UK) very accessible at AllExperts.com. He and Craig Bates created the Raw Paleo Forum which was very helpful for newbies like me.
I experimented with different raw land animals with duck, chicken, goat, lamb, frogs and raw organic grass fed beef was the best…I experimented with many types of raw dairy from goat, cow and carabao and all failed, I just couldn’t digest dairy, I realized I was lactose intolerant. My stomach didn’t agree to raw green juicing either.
I became interested in the Homo Optimus diet which included cooked pork, I did my one month experiment and felt that my health was worse with cooked meat compared to raw meat.
I learned that eating a raw paleo diet with organic fruits and raw fatty organic animal foods kept me sick for an entire year. I felt invincible. It was my first time and it continued every day hoping I wouldn’t get sick. The only times I felt sick were when I tried to eat a non-raw paleo diet. Also, I have biceps on my arms for the first time and I’m a sedentary computer freak. God, the talk about eating raw meat will make you gain muscle without hitting the gym is true.
In 2009, I switched to a raw, high-fat, low-carb paleo diet and found it even more comfortable. Gone is the shaky feeling of hunger that comes with hypoglycemia, which I thought was normal in my life when it was time for each meal.
The raw paleo diet is the easiest diet I’ve followed, although high-quality organic fruits and organic meats are expensive. A raw paleo diet is even simpler than a regular SAD or cooked paleo diet. Breaking free from the shackles of cooking is a dream to be lived. I seem to have found “home” because the raw paleo diet is so easy even a caveman can do it.
In order to have even more access to the best foods possible, I moved my company office to Cubao, right next to my favorite Farmers Market, for my daily fresh produce sales.
These days my diet is a high crude fat, low carb diet consisting of:
* raw organic local fruits with low glycemic levels in season – fruits with high vitamin C levels (guava, papaya, Indian mango), moisturizing fruits (watermelon, melon), fatty fruits (durian, coconuts) follow the seasons
* raw fertilized duck eggs flown in from Palawan
* raw grass-fed fatty Batangas beef and sometimes raw goat or raw lamb
* a variety of raw seafood such as oysters, clams, small and large fish, sea prawns, etc.
* Without additives. No nutritional supplement can match the power of real food.
The raw paleo diet and its variations are therapeutic. My own young children have experienced the raw paleo diet themselves. When my kids are sick, I put them on the same raw paleo diet as mine, they know their illness can be cured by RAW because they feel instant relief. Children know who is the healthiest person in the house these days.
At the end of 2009 I went on a raw paleo diet for 2 years and now I weigh 128 pounds with a short 5′5″ height and 31″ pants. I always hope to reach new heights of health in the coming years because I am well adjusted and constantly adapting. All my health problems are solved. Only these 2 years have I felt truly healthy.
Today, at 40, I look younger, leaner and have more energy than I did when I was 30. It was on the raw paleo diet that I realized people needed to be fit and healthy effortlessly.
